Arianna works for the village healer by day and steals from caravans as the Hooded Robber by night until a robbery goes wrong. Her brother is arrested, and the Grand Councilor puts a thousand dinarah reward on her head.
Arianna wants to escape the oppression and taxes of her country with her father and brother, but she has to rescue them first. Her only hope of saving her father is an archery tournament where the winner can have one person pardoned. On her way to the tournament, she must stay ahead of a bounty hunter, fight her way through Feangsel Forest, and capture the Prince of Tuleves to exchange the royal for her brother’s life. Her plan puts even more people at risk, including her childhood friend and the boy she loves. Arianna will be hanged if she’s recognized as the Hooded Robber during the tournament, but even if she makes it to the end and wins, she can’t save them all. Forced to choose between the future she’s always dreamed of and the chance to change a nation, her final shot could save her family or shatter the rule of the oppressive royals.
