BRING OUT YOUR STORY’S HEART
No matter what kind of story you’re writing, there is one thing that matters more than anything else: your story’s heart. The heart of your story may be the plot—but it may be a character, a theme, or simply a vibe! In this intensive, we’ll delve deep into identifying and refining the heart of your story and tapping into your most vibrant creativity, focusing on everything from big ideas to tiny individual words. We’ll explore the idea of stories as fluid substances, learning how great writers and artists approach the process of building strong, powerful creations. We’ll also learn ways to use our sentence-level writing to bring out our story’s heart, grounding readers deeply in our texts and creating worlds people will never want to leave.Cindy Baldwin
Bring Out Your Story’s HeartWRITING WITH DEEP POINT OF VIEW
Stories written in deep point of view are powerful and immersive. Readers forget they are reading and instead live vicariously through the POV character(s), entrenched in their worldview and unique traits, without any telltale author tags and filter words standing in their way. In this class you’ll learn the tips and tricks to transform your writing from distant to deep and then deeper, which will give your scenes the emotional punch and character connection necessary for a gripping and unforgettable story. I’ll also include time for participants to write or revise part of a scene in deep POV and invite some of you to share with the class.Kathryn purdie
Writing with Deep Point of ViewTHE THREE VOICES OF AN AUTHOR
What is the difference between the voices of your characters, the voice of your story, and your voice as an author? In this intensive we’ll tackle that seemingly unanswerable question, “What is ‘Voice?’” beginning with discovering the voice inside you that wants to be let out, the voice of the specific story you are writing, and making sure each individual character’s voice is unique and authentic.Jeff scott Savage
