Luke Fairchild has returned to Glen Cove after four years in the Air Force, ready to convince the woman of his dreams and his childhood friend, Gertie, that they’re meant to be together.
The only problem is that Gertie is now the Hollywood starlet Audrey Hale, and her family wants her to be with Luke even less now than they did four years ago.
Gertie’s older sister, Nellie, has been tasked by their father to keep Luke and Gertie apart until her press tour begins in a few weeks. Nellie, acting-CEO of the family’s multi-million dollar company, doesn’t have time to run interference between her sister and the boy for whom she has her own set of confusing feelings. Ever the dutiful daughter, however, Nellie manages to find ways to keep Luke busy, and away from Gertie.
As Luke and Nellie spend time together, both begin to wonder if what they thought they wanted from life is what will really make them happy.
Could what they really want have been right in front of them the whole time? And, if so, will heartbreak from Nellie’s past conspire to ruin everything between her and everyone she loves?
