One hundred years after the Rain of Fire, those that survived the nuclear war split into seven Republics. In the research-driven Republic of Stillfield, parents Ben and Jemma Hodgerton need to make a choice for their oldest after the age limit for Enertin, the medication used to suppress emotions, and therefore powers, is lowered. Medicating would give him the life they desperately want, while minimizing the risk of becoming engulfed in flames.
It seems like an easy decision, until a false accusation rips the family apart. Throwing them onto separate paths that leave them questioning what, and who, they can trust. One thing they do know: they’ll do anything to be back in each other’s arms. If an ocean can’t keep them apart, perhaps a plot devised to rid the world of Disparates will.
